This is a postcard for the no. 6480 Aikokuki, presented by the citizens of Nara, depicting a Nakajima Ki-44-IIc Shoki.
Although the plane seems to sport some short of camouflage, this is not the case. Actually this particular photo is highly retouched and was used to depict various Aikokuki by just changing the inscription on the fuselage. Notice the strange shape of the tail wheel and the absence of the Friendly Aircraft line on the wing edge. But even the size of the inscription is not correct and usually it would be very very small just behind the fuselage Hinomaru, which is also absent from this plane. Apart from the above comments, Don Marsh created an excellent profile showing how this fictitious plane would look like.
Since in Arawasi we have a special interest for both Army's Aikokuki and Navy's Hokokugo, we are going to start a special corner in the very near future.
