A Navy Type Hansa Reconnaissance Seaplane. A Hansa-Brandenburg W-29 was received by Japan as war reparations after the end of WWI. The type was considered very advanced and Nakajima and Aichi started its production building a total of 310.
Although all references state that it had a two blade wooden propeller, in this photo as well as in the photo of page 272 of "Japanese A/C 1910-1941" it seems as if the propeller has four blades. This plane also belongs to the Kasumigaura Kokutai and notice that unlike the above
seaplane it has a white ring Hinomaru. The fuselage looks like it's painted in a darker color. Orange? |
