NIHONRIKUGUN NO SHISAKU/KEIKAKUKI 1943-1945
(Experimental Aircraft and Designs of the Japanese Army)

Authors: Sahara Akira
Published by Ikaros, April 2006, p/b
Size: 15x21cm, Pages: 213, Price: 1,700 Yen
Photos: 17b/w, Illustrations: 72 b/w, 12 color
An interesting small publication introducing most of the
X-planes of the IJAAF and a good number of others that never
left the drawing board.
Small number of photos, all published in the past and numerous
illustrations by the author. Not bad.
TEIKOKU KAIGUN KANJOKI, SUIJOKI PERFECT GUIDE
(IJN Carrier Plane / Seaplane Perfect Guide)

Authors: Komine Bunzo, Katabuchi Sunao and others
Published by Gakken, Mar. 2006, p/b
Size: 18x26cm, Pages: 137, Price: 1,860 Yen
As with the Perfect Guide of IJAAF Warplanes, this latest Gakken
publication is full of photos, side drawings, and quite nice color
profiles but, honestly, it's nothing more than a general book,
introducing carrier operated a/c and seaplanes. Surely interesting
to Japanese readers but not recommended to anybody else.
NIHON KAIGUN SENTOKI part2
(Japanese Navy Fighter part2)

Illustrator: Imai Kunitaka
Published by Koei, Jan. 2006, p/b
Size: 18x26cm, Pages: 95, Color profiles: 123, Price: 2,000 Yen
Okay. This is an interesting little book. First of all it's full of
profiles and no photos. It has profiles of:
N1K1-J Shiden & Shiden-kai, N1K Kyofu, J1N1-S Gekko, A7M Reppu,
J5N1 Tenrai, A6M8, J7W1 Shinden and J8M/Ki-200 Shusui.
I like the profiles a lot and I think they are very good inspirations
to modelers and artists. But...is it recommended? Well...yes, and no.
When I saw the first one of the series I didn't fell for it and didn't get
it. I got this one and I enjoy going through the pages. I will put it up in
my library and use it for quick reference, maybe once a year.
But, for 25$ (including postage) I wouldn't recommend it.
